The Company
Founded in 1900, Paolino Properties is the oldest family owned and operated real
estate company in Rhode Island. Headquartered in Providence, Paolino Properties
is a full service firm with expertise in property management, development,
leasing, and sales for both commercial and residential markets.
Paolino Properties specializes in management and development of office
buildings, residential apartment complexes, resort timeshare, marinas, shopping
centers, hotels, and parking facilities.
Currently, the 25 person staff oversees more than 500,000 sq. ft. of commercial
office properties, multiple parking facilities, 175 units of multifamily
dwellings, 52 waterfront timeshare units, marina, residential subdivisions,
industrial parks and 600,000 sq. ft. of retail facilities.
JOSEPH R. PAOLINO
Joseph R. Paolino is the third generation owner and managing partner of the Rhode Island based Paolino Properties. For over fifty years, Mr. Paolino has held numerous positions in this family owned and operated business. He currently manages the day-to-day operation and management of this diverse real estate firm including personnel, sales, maintenance, construction, and development.
As the father of three children and the grandfather of six, Mr. Paolino has been quite active in both the business sector and the community. As a graduate of the New York Military Academy, Cornwall, NY and as a 1952 graduate of Providence College, Joseph R. Paolino has an extensive background in property development, real estate management and overall economic development. His wife, Heather, daughter Donna and son, Joe Jr. are actively involved company operations.
Under his direction, this Providence-based firm has expanded its holdings to numerous other RI cities and towns, other states, and recently to other countries. Paolino Properties has also expanded its base to include office buildings, industrial parks, shopping centers, apartment complexes, retail centers, marinas, and resort properties. In addition to his other duties, Mr. Paolino also directs the financial planning and management of the firm.
As an active professional, Joseph R. Paolino is presently a member of the RI Coastal Resources Management Corp. as appointed by the Governor of RI and has also served in the past as a member of the Providence Zoning Board. He has also served as a director and/or advisor to several RI banks including the First Bank & Trust, the former Columbus National Bank, and the former RI Hospital Trust Bank. His affiliations also include the Providence Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Providence Board of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors, and the RI Auctioneers Assoc.
JOSEPH R. PAOLINO, JR.
A fourth generation Paolino, Joseph R. Paolino, Jr., has his vision on the future. Holding broker's licenses in several states, his primary focus is on development and acquisition for Paolino Properties.
Mr. Paolino has over twenty years of experience in Rhode Island government and business sectors. Following his election in 1984, Joseph R. Paolino Jr., served as the youngest elected mayor of the City of Providence through January 1991. As Mayor, he was responsible for the administration of a $250 million municpal budget which included all city departments, the school system, public safety, and a workforce of 5000. His economic development efforts during his tenure as Mayor included the American Express Service Center, the RI Convention Center, Westin Hotel as well as the nationally known Providence Place Mall.
In 1991, Mr. Paolino was appointed the Director of Economic Development and Tourism, where he became responsible for RI's overall economic development and the implementation of economic strategies and program initiatives. He worked to transform downcity Providence into an academic center. He concentrated the state resources toward the development of the Quonset/North Kingstwon Rhode Island Port and Industrial Park including new rail and highway systems.
After serving numerous years in the City of Providence and State of Rhode Island, Joseph R. Paolino Jr. was appointed U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Malta by President Clinton. In 1996, he joined Paolino Properties on a full-time basis. Mr. Paolino is a graduate of Roger Williams University and Harvard University.
